Di cosa si tratta

Santa Maria Maggiore is the oldest Marian basilica in the Western world. Free admission: inside are original 5th-century mosaics (Old Testament stories on the naves, and the Coronation of Mary in the apse). The coffered ceiling with gold was made with the first gold that arrived from the Americas. It's near Termini, it's the church you often see on the right when arriving by train. Tour of the Loggia with the facade mosaics requires a fee.
