Rione Monti is Rome's first rione, enclosed between Via Cavour, Via dei Fori Imperiali and Via Nazionale. Walking through it you'll find: the Fontana dei Catecumeni in Piazza della Madonna dei Monti (the neighbourhood's social hub, always packed with Romans in the evening), a votive shrine at the corner of Via Madonna dei Monti, and a network of alleyways with vintage shops, independent bookstores, and small bars. Beautiful both during the day (for photos) and in the evening (for aperitivo — paid). Pure walk: free.
