'Sunday at the Museum' is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture: every first Sunday of the month dozens of state museums and archaeological sites are free. In Rome that means: Colosseo + Foro + Palatino, Galleria Borghese, Castel Sant'Angelo, Galleria Nazionale di Arte Antica (Palazzo Barberini), Terme di Caracalla, Pantheon (in some cases), and many others. Galleria Borghese still requires a free online reservation (spots fill up fast, book at least a week ahead). The very touristy sites get crowded: arrive when they open.
