The Trevi Fountain in person is much larger than it appears in photos. The ritual is simple: with your back to the fountain, coin in your right hand, toss it over your left shoulder. Legend says you'll return to Rome. The fountain is always free to access. To avoid the midday crowds, go early in the morning (before 9am) or late at night (after 11pm). The coins collected are donated to charity.
