Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta on the Aventino is home to the gate of the Priory of the Order of Malta. Through the keyhole there's a brilliant view: looking inside you see a tree-lined avenue that leads perfectly to the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. A sovereign Order, Italy and the Vatican aligned in just a few meters. Free, always accessible from outside. There's often a small queue — everyone takes about 10 seconds. Combine it with the Giardino degli Aranci just 50 meters away.
