St. Peter's Basilica is free: you can enter without a ticket. What you pay for (separately) is climbing the dome and entry to the Treasury museum. Inside you'll find Michelangelo's Pietà (right away on your right as you enter), Bernini's baldachin above the altar, enormous naves. Strict dress code: shoulders and knees covered, no plunging necklines. Security checks at the entrance (like at the airport): long queues in the morning, shorter after 4 PM.
